Danner Boots - Decades of Design
Like many great brands before and after, Danner has humble beginnings. Started in 1932 by Charles Danner. Danner Shoe Mfg began making spiked soled logging boots in a small town in Wisconsin.
Soon after its genesis, Charles moved the business to Portland, Oregon due to the booming timber trade in the Pacific northwest. Before long, Danner had built itself an impressive reputation of quality and durability with the boots proving more than fit for purpose. Off the back of this reputation, Danner secured a government contract during the second world war, making reliable footwear for the military. This endorsement allowed the business to expand considerably, upsizing to a much larger factory and broadening the range.
It wasn't until the 1960s, when camping and outdoor recreation gained mass appeal, that Danner started producing hiking boots. It comes as no surprise that, just like the first logging boots all those years ago, Danner’s first hiking boot, the 6490 was met with glowing reviews.
The 6490 is a style still mirrored today in the Mountain Light. It still retains classic features reminiscent of the ‘60s original, with a full grain, one piece leather upper, classic D-ring eyelets and a distinctive silhouette. Not just a dated replica, The Mountain Light is kept current with Gore-Tex liners and a stable Vibram Kletterlift sole unit.
Besides its inimitable heritage styles, Danner continues to produce innovative and modern footwear for all manner of outdoor activity.
This all becomes evident with one glance at the Mountain 600. A technical hiker with a nostalgic and stylistic nod to the past. The 600 stays true to its roots, with durable suede uppers and D-ring eyelets. Innovations include Danner Dry technology for waterproofing, instant, sneaker-esque comfort and a custom sole unit developed alongside Vibram. It’s a modern classic for the ages and an up-to-date string to Danner’s ever capable bow.
